Meet Coach George,
Founder & CEO

Coach George Phillips is passionate about the game and developing today's youth. He is a former Collegiate Division 1 player who played for Robert Morris University in the early 2000's.  In addition, during the entire summer of 1999, he trained in London, England with Chelsea FC, and played in a match v Fulham FC with the Chelsea FC academy.  For multiple years, Coach George has trained and mentored numerous youth soccer players in the Maryland area. He currently holds the USSF National D Coaching License.  George is also an Infrastructure Systems Engineer in Information Technology.

How did PhilmLand get Started?

In order to have the biggest impact on a player's personal development, Coach George stepped away from high school and club coaching to start his own training program, PhilmLand. This program provides players with 1on1 private training, small/large group training, and film analysis to best address the needs of individual athletes in their development. The goal is to help young players reach their full potential and for them to gain recognition from other teams, schools, and coaches. PhilmLand aims to improve the level of the youth game overall.  

So, Why the Name PhilmLand?

Coach George believes that videotape analysis is a vital component in enhancing the performance of each player.  It also gives a more detailed approach to review and plan the next training sessions.  In addition, it's a great tool for sending videos to other teams and coaches to support or promote a player.  Since his last name is Phillips, he took the word “Film” and changed it to “Philm.”  So, with filming and analysis being a big part of the training, the name PhilmLand was born.
